Athlete safety

Safety comes first at every clinic.

You’re trusting us with your child. Every adult at an Elevate clinic is screened and certified, every site runs the same safety plan, and the rules are written down so you can read them before you register.

Every adult is screened

Every coach and staff member completes a background check before working a clinic, along with mandated-reporter training as required by California law for youth service organizations.

First aid, CPR, and AED certified

Every coach and staff member holds current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification. An AED and a stocked first-aid kit are on site at every clinic.

When in doubt, sit them out

Coaches complete concussion-recognition training. An athlete with a suspected head injury is removed from activity for the rest of the day, parents are notified right away, and the athlete needs written clearance from a licensed health care provider before returning to an Elevate clinic.

A heat plan for Southern California

Water breaks are built into every session. On hot days we add breaks, move work into shade or indoors where possible, and adjust intensity. Coaches are trained to recognize the signs of heat illness.

Secure check-in and check-out

Athletes are checked in by a parent or guardian and released only to a parent, guardian, or an adult on the authorized pick-up list.

Clear conduct rules for adults

Coaches communicate with athletes in groups and in view of other adults. One-on-one private messaging with athletes is not permitted. Parents are welcome to watch.

Concussions: when in doubt, sit them out

Head injuries are rare in a skills clinic, but we plan for them. Coaches are trained to recognize the signs of a possible concussion. If an athlete shows any of them, they stop for the rest of the day — no exceptions, no “shake it off.” We contact a parent right away, and the athlete needs written clearance from a licensed health care provider before returning to an Elevate clinic.

Heat: a Southern California plan

Summer heat is a real factor, especially inland. Water breaks are built into every session; on hot days we add more, move work into shade or indoors where possible, lower the intensity, and schedule summer sessions earlier in the day. Please send your athlete with a full water bottle and sunscreen for outdoor sports.

Medical information and emergencies

At registration, parents can share allergies, conditions, and medications our staff should know about, along with emergency contacts. An AED and a stocked first-aid station are on site at every clinic, and staff are certified in CPR, First Aid, and AED use. In an emergency we call 911 first, then you.

Adults and athletes

Coaches communicate with athletes in groups and in view of other adults, and one-on-one private messaging with athletes isn’t permitted. Parents are welcome to watch. Every coach and staff member completes mandated-reporter training, and any concern raised by an athlete or parent is taken seriously and handled under California’s reporting requirements.
